Northern Ireland Tourism Awards Winners – Enter The Awards For Excellence Visit Britain. Tourism Northern Ireland also referred to as Tourism NI, may be a non-departmental public body of the Department for the Economy. Its primary objective is to market Northern Ireland as a tourist destination to domestic tourists, from within Northern Ireland, and to visitors from the Republic of Eire.

It provides a service to the general public for information on tourist destinations within Northern Ireland, conveyance, accommodation, and therefore the various tourist attractions throughout Northern Ireland.

It was established in 1948 as a part of the event of the Tourist Traffic Act (NI), and its remit was affirmed by the Tourism (NI) Order 1992. In 2015, its name was changed from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) (Irish: Bord Turasóireachta Thuaisceart Éireann; Ulster-Scots: Norlin Airlann Reengin Boord) to Tourism Northern Ireland, as a part of the broader review of the general public body. As of 31 March 2018, Tourism NI employed 143 people.

Tourism Northern Ireland operates in close cooperation with equivalent agencies within the remainder of the UK and Fáilte Ireland within the Republic of Eire. The cross-border body Tourism Ireland (formed in 1999) is liable for attracting overseas tourists to the island of fire.

Crumlin Road Gaol has grown to be a multi-purpose destination; also as offering public guided tours and today is one among Belfast’s top tourist attractions which is graded 5 stars by Tourism NI. Since reopening in 2012 it’s seen the expansion of services and facilities within the business and entertainment sectors.

Speaking at the event, Tourism NI Chairman, Terence Brannigan, said: “Northern Ireland’s attractiveness as a tourist destination has come an extended way within the last three or four decades. once you compare today with 1978, the step changes that have happened in our industry can’t be missed nor underestimated. within the last six years, especially the world has performed consistently well.
